The Federal election is being held this Saturday, May 18, and Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester said he was taking nothing for granted.
“The support I’ve been receiving from local residents on the campaign trail is very humbling,” Mr Chester said.
“I think locals respect the fact that I’ve never been distracted by silly political games in Canberra and I’m focused on getting things done for Gippsland.
“By working with the community, I’ve been able to deliver large and small projects, major improvements to local services, and give our region a strong voice on local and national issues.”
Mr Chester said he had positive plans for the future of the region and plenty of energy to get the job done.
“I love Gippsland and I’m proud to have raised my family in our beautiful part of the world,” Mr Chester said.
“My plan is to keep working to make our community the best place in regional Australia to live, work and raise a family.
“As a local Member of Parliament and a Minister, I’ve been able to secure record government investment for local roads and rail upgrades, community sporting infrastructure and defence facilities.
“As a born and bred Gippslander, I will keep fighting to make sure Gippsland gets a fair share of government resources for the best possible health services, education opportunities, aged and disability care.
“By putting locals first and working together, we can keep getting things done for Gippsland.”
