RECUITING THE FUTURE ADF WORKFORCE

Students from Yarram Secondary College met with Minister for Defence Personnel Darren Chester, as well as Petty Officer (PO) Leigh Fester and Corporal (CPL) Stella Anning this week to learn about Australian Defence Force (ADF) careers.

Mr Chester joined the recruiters, who are participating in a week-long tour of the South and West Gippsland region visiting schools and hosting information sessions for the local community.

PO Fester is an Electronics Technician in the Royal Australian Navy who works at the leading edge of technology maintaining advanced missile systems, navigation equipment, radar, surveillance equipment, communication networks and more.

CPL Anning is a musician in the Australian Army and has had the opportunity to travel around Australia.

Mr Chester said it was great young Australians had the opportunity to learn about the realities of an ADF career from current serving members like PO Fester and CPL Anning.

Defence is looking for talented Australians to pursue their ambitions through a career in the ADF.

Mr Chester said a career in the ADF enabled young Australians to set themselves up for the future.
