Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester said he was saddened to learn of the Port Albert Hotel being destroyed by fire last night.
“The old pub was an important part of our region’s heritage and a genuine tourism drawcard for Port Albert,” Mr Chester said.
“It is extremely disappointing to lose a historic link to our past but thankfully there were no reported injuries or loss of life.
“Hopefully there will be opportunities to rebuild on the site in the future.”
