BUILDING UPGRADES AT SALE SHOWGROUNDS

December 13, 2011

The Nationals Member for Gippsland Darren Chester has congratulated the volunteer committee and members of Sale and District Agricultural Society at the official opening of the new pavilion this morning.

Mr Chester commended the committee for working cooperatively with various levels of government to secure $600,000 for the new building.  $400,000 has been provided by the State Government; $100,000 from Sale and District Agricultural Society and $100,000 from Wellington Shire Council.

Mr Chester said the club had a dedicated band of volunteers who worked tirelessly to improve the range of facilities available to the community.

“The Sale and District Agricultural Society is one of this region’s oldest and proudest community organisations,” Mr Chester said.

“The society’s history of fostering regional life, culture and recreation spans across several generations.

“Importantly, the society has been able to adapt to changing times and continues to offer many important community events for families to enjoy including the popular Sale Show.

“The Sale Showgrounds venue is also home to regional events including World Cup Showjumping, Sale Bridge Club, Gymnastics and Pony Club.

“This pavilion will go a long way to making sure these clubs and the events they offer continue to grow in into the future.”
