SIDEBOTTOM TOURING GIPPSLAND THIS WEEK

July 30, 2012

Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry Sid Sidebottom will tour Gippsland this Wednesday at the invitation of The Nationals Member for Gippsland Darren Chester.

Mr Sidebottom will spend time at Australian Paper’s Maryvale Mill, Australian Sustainable Hardwood’s timber mill in Heyfield and tour the Macalister Irrigation District.

Mr Chester said he invited Mr Sidebottom to the region so that he could highlight the importance of primary industries to the Gippsland region.

“I speak with key stakeholders across our primary industries on a regular basis and Sid’s visit will be a good chance for them to raise their concerns directly with the Federal Government,” Mr Chester said.

“I’m expecting key issues such as native timber harvesting and the development of water infrastructure to be raised along with the future viability of our agriculture, fishing and forestry industries.”
