Twenty-five singers from the Latrobe Valley Community Choir left for Melbourne today to perform at the Melbourne International Singers Festival

Before they departed, The Nationals Member for Gippsland Darren Chester presented the choir’s president Mrs Tineke Westwood (centre) and secretary Mrs Karen Whykes (left) with #myvalley t-shirts.

“I’m really pleased to be able to give these t-shirts to the choir so they can proudly show everyone who sees them at the festival where they come from,” Mr Chester said.

“I want to wish all the singers the very best on behalf of everyone in Gippsland. They will represent our region with pride – and they will do us proud.”

The Melbourne International Singers Festival runs for four days and includes performances, rehearsals and workshops at the Melbourne Recital Centre and Deakin Edge theatre at Federation Square.

Proceeds from the Melbourne International Singers Festival will support the School of Hard Knocks in providing arts and cultural programs to marginalised and vulnerable people.
