It was the first day back at school for students as well as local MP Darren Chester this week.

Mr Chester visited Maffra St Mary’s first thing Monday morning after receiving  a letter of invitation from year 3-4 class representative Jett McMahon.

Mr Chester gave the class a quick overview of how Australia’s political system works and then took questions ranging from what football team he barracks for (Sydney Swans) to what is it that Mr Chester loves most about Gippsland.

The St Mary’s students then sent Mr Chester off with some homework to do, asking for more information about plans for the historic Avon River Bridge once the new bridge is completed.
