I am bitterly disappointed with the events at Parliament House this week.
Australians deserve better than the behaviour they’ve witnessed in Federal Parliament by both sides of politics over the past 10 years.
Out of respect for the Office of the Prime Minister and out of respect for the Australian public, I believe Malcolm Turnbull should be allowed to finish his term and that Gippslanders, and all Australians, should have the opportunity to cast their democratic vote at the next general election.
I urge my colleagues to stop talking about each other and to focus on the issues that matter to all Australians.
Regardless of what happens tomorrow in the Liberal Party meeting, I will continue to serve as The Nationals Member for Gippsland.
In addition, I have nominated and been preselected by The Nationals to recontest the seat of Gippsland at the next Federal election.
I want to thank Gippslanders for their patience and kind words of support during a tumultuous week in Federal Parliament.
