Stronger Communities Programme Round 9 – Expression of Interest

Jan 21, 2025 | News

Gippsland community organisations have the opportunity to secure a grant of up to $20,000 under the latest round of the #lovegippsland Stronger Communities Programme (SCP), announced by Federal MP Darren Chester.

Mr Chester has called for expressions of interest from local groups with grants of between $2500 and $20,000 available across the electorate of Gippsland.

“In total, we have been allocated $150,000 for infrastructure projects that will deliver social benefits for local communities as part of Round Nine of the SCP,” Mr Chester said.

“The program is a fantastic initiative from the previous Federal Government that supports local groups to increase participation, and contribute to vibrant and viable communities.

“Dozens of local community groups have benefitted from SCP over the years, from supporting the development of Sale’s Seed Community Garden and building Bruthen’s Lions Park’s wet-weather shelter, to extending Morwell’s Gippsland Immigration Park Heritage Walk and improving Churchill’s Mathison Park’s playground and picnic area.

“Community groups often use the grants to add to their fundraising efforts and deliver outstanding projects across Gippsland.”

Mr Chester advised all potential applicants to review the grant guidelines to ensure their project meets the new eligibility criteria.

“Projects must meet the eligibility requirements and directly align with at least one of the program objectives on the department’s website,” Mr Chester said.

The EOI period is now open and will close at 5pm on Wednesday, February 12, 2025.

EOIs will then be assessed by the Community Consultation Committee for eligibility, and successful applicants will be invited to complete a full submission.
