Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester is encouraging local workers and families affected by the closure of Dicky Bill, to attend the Support & Services Expo in Maffra next week.
The expo, hosted by Workforce Australia Local Jobs Program Gippsland, will bring together a wide range of organisations offering employment, training, financial and wellbeing support.
The event will be held on Wednesday, December 10, from 10am until 2pm at the Maffra Memorial Hall.
Mr Chester said the expo is open to the whole community and provides an important opportunity for people to explore options during a challenging time.
“This expo will give local residents direct access to employment providers, training organisations, employers and government agencies who can assist with job opportunities, skills development, financial information and mental health support,” Mr Chester said.
“With 20 exhibitors already confirmed, including Services Australia, TAFE Gippsland, local employers, industry representatives and workforce specialists, attendees will be able to speak to experts, ask questions and connect with the right support for their situation.”
A light lunch will be provided thanks to Food & Fibre Gippsland, and ample parking is available behind the venue.
Mr Chester thanked the organisations involved for their commitment to supporting the Maffra community.
“I want to acknowledge all exhibitors and local organisations who have stepped up to help workers and families during this difficult period,” he said.
“By working together, we can help affected community members navigate the weeks ahead and access new opportunities.”
