Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester is backing the ‘Support Local, Spend Local’ campaign to bolster business in Sale and Maffra.

The Sale and Maffra business and tourism associations have banded together to launch the campaign, which encourages the community to support all types of local businesses including tradespeople, service providers and retailers.

“The best way we can help to create jobs and give our children a future in Gippsland is to support our local businesses,” Mr Chester said. “They are the backbone of our local economy and their support is vital for so many other local organisations, including sporting clubs, schools and community groups.”

Shoppers will notice balloons and stickers with the ‘Support Local, Spend Local’ slogan at participating businesses to reiterate the message. Other merchandise, including notepads and pens, have been available at participating businesses, but are quickly disappearing.

People can support the campaign on social media by tagging their Instagram posts with #supportlocal #startthetrend and #supportlocalwellington.
