CHESTER SPEAKS WITH SWIFTS CREEK P-12 LEADERS

February 23, 2010

The newly appointed junior and senior leadership teams at Swifts Creek P-12 College received some advice from their local Federal Member of Parliament Darren Chester last week.

Mr Chester dropped into the school and gave an impromptu speech on the importance of being a leader and contributing to a small regional community such as Swifts Creek.

“The most important thing to remember as a leader is that you owe it to yourself to make the most of your abilities and work hard to follow your dreams,” Mr Chester told the students.

“Successful people come from all different backgrounds and there are no limits to the things you can achieve if you are persistent and determined.”

Mr Chester also encouraged the leadership teams to set the example for other young people to get involved in local activities.

“As young leaders, it’s important to get involved at the ground level and show a commitment to worthwhile activities in your community,” Mr Chester said.

“Showing initiative and leading by example helps to encourage others to make a contribution to local causes and improves community spirit.”
