Senior students at St Mary’s Primary School, Sale, learnt about Australia’s political system when The Nationals Member for Gippsland Darren Chester took over the whiteboard.
Mr Chester visits primary schools across Gippsland to support civics and citizenships studies being taught to years five and six students.
He said he was impressed by the St Mary’s students’ knowledge of how governments are formed and the roles and responsibilities of government ministers.
“The students were very in tune with political news and have obviously been keeping on top of the some of key issues in Federal politics,” Mr Chester said.
“Talking politics can be fun, but more importantly I enjoy the opportunity to meet with school leaders and hopefully encourage them to go on to become community leaders in the future.”
