People experiencing television reception problems in Gippsland are being urged to contact Federal MP Darren Chester, who has pledged to raise their concerns directly with the new Communications Minister.

Mr Chester said his office had been inundated with calls from constituents reporting regular interference to their television reception.

“I’m concerned by the number of calls I’ve received regarding this issue and I believe it requires further investigation by the Department of Communications and television networks,” Mr Chester said.

“There is nothing more frustrating for TV viewers to have their favourite sports event or program interrupted by poor reception.

“The interference is getting worse, not better, since the transition from analogue to digital television. This has particularly been the case in Central Gippsland and East Gippsland.

“I encourage anyone who has been experiencing interference with their digital television reception to contact my office and lodge their details.”

Mr Chester will provide a single page document that can be filled out, including the nature of the interference, the channels affected, the time of the interference, description of the resident’s antenna type and measures taken to rectify the problem, such as contacting an antenna repair contractor.

Mr Chester’s office can be contacted by phone, 5144 6744, or email directly darren.chester.mp@aph.gov.au
