Lakes Entrance Recreation Reserve facilities upgrades will take another step forward with an additional grant through bushfire recovery funding.

Local MP Darren Chester said just over $400,000 had been allocated to improve shower and toilet amenities along with a new family room.

“My office has worked with the volunteer committee of management and Gippsland East MP Tim Bull to secure this funding as part of the reserve’s transformation,” Mr Chester said.

“The recreation reserve is not only the town’s major football-netball-cricket venue, it was also used as a refuge for families displaced during the bushfires and it is essential that facilities are useable and appropriate for the community’s needs.

“This stage of works follows the upgrade of the change rooms we secured Federal Government funding for a couple of years ago, as well as the netball court upgrades.

“This is a great win for the community and a testament to the hard working volunteers who continue to work to improve this local community infrastructure.”
