FUNDING FOR EAST GIPPSLAND TPI SOCIAL CLUB

July 12, 2012

East Gippsland TPI Social Club members will embark on a series of bus trips over the next 12 months after the group received $4600 in Federal Government funding.

The funding has been provided under the Veteran and Community Grants program with the club supported by TPI (Totally and Permanently Incapacitated Ex-Servicemen and Women) Victoria.

President and Secretary of the East Gippsland TPI Social Club Robert Chambers said the group conducted regular meetings and outings for members.

“The funding will allow us to continue our trips for the next 12 months,” Mr Chambers said.

“We have meetings on the second Monday and trips on the fourth Monday of every month.

“Over the next few months we will celebrate Christmas in July, head to Walhalla on a day trip, spend three days in Bright as well as another day trip to Port Albert.

“It’s a good club to be a part of and it is only $20 for singles and $30 for couples.”

Mr Chambers encouraged anyone interested in applying to enquire at their local RSL.

Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester said the Veteran and Community Grants program had re-opened for 2012 and encouraged any interested groups to apply.

“Local groups which support veterans and their families are an important part of our community and this government assistance allows them to boost social opportunities or purchase new equipment,” Mr Chester said.

The 2012 Veteran and Community Grants program opened on July 1 and applicants are accepted on a rolling basis.
