Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester has announced Federal Government funding for 72 volunteer groups across Gippsland, totalling $250,000.

The groups include Gippsland Carers Association, Traralgon Apex Club; Lifeline Gippsland; Lions Club of Morwell; Sale Amateur Basketball Association; Heyfield Wetlands Committee of Management; Loch Sport Community House, Maffra Scout Group; Sale Central Rotary; East Gippsland Historical Society; East Gippsland Water Dragons; St John’s Ambulance, Paynesville Men’s Shed, Lindenow Preschool and Lakes Entrance Neighborhood House.

Details of all 72 groups to receive a grant from the Volunteer Grants Program are listed below.

The Volunteer Grants program provides funding between $1000 and $5000 to help organisations buy equipment, train volunteers, and support fuel costs.

“I am pleased that so many local groups will get much-needed support,” Mr Chester said.

“Our communities rely heavily on the time and energy of volunteers and the work they do
for the benefit and enjoyment of others.

“These grants are available to help reduce the workload of those who put their hand up and pitch in, and make it easier to recruit new volunteers to share the load.”
