WORKING TOGETHER FOR GIPPSLAND’S HEALTH

Aug 26, 2025 | Latest News

Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester recently met with Maryvale Private Hospital CEO Daniel Scholtes to discuss the ongoing health care challenges facing the Gippsland region and the steps being taken by local providers to deliver better outcomes for the community.

Mr Chester said the meeting provided an important opportunity to discuss the pressures impacting both the public and private health sectors, such as workforce shortages, health insurer funding, and the ongoing need for investment in infrastructure and services, and how service providers are working to meet growing demand.

“Access to high-quality health care is one of the most important issues facing Gippsland,” Mr Chester said.

“It’s not just about improving health outcomes for local residents — a strong and reliable health care system also supports a healthy local economy by creating jobs, attracting skilled professionals, and giving families confidence to live, work, and invest in our region.”

Mr Chester said local health care providers are working hard to respond to these challenges, and continued cooperation between all stakeholders is vital.

“I’ll continue working closely with all levels of government and our local health providers to secure the resources, services, and funding Gippsland needs,” Mr Chester said.

“Our community deserves access to sustainable, high-quality care close to home, and I’m committed to advocating strongly to achieve that outcome.”

Maryvale Private Hospital plays a vital role in the Gippsland health system, working alongside public hospitals and other service providers to meet the region’s diverse and growing needs.
