Yarram showgrounds new exhibition shed is now complete.
Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester said the upgrade boasted a new exhibition and storage shed at the Yarram showgrounds.
“The project involved the demolition of the existing shed and construction of a new exhibition shed,” Mr Chester said.
“The new building includes a large open space area, a shared storage bay with front and rear access, ambulant toilet, kitchen space and a large secretary’s office.
“The old shed was in a derelict state and unsafe to use and needed replacing, it was falling down and had substantial water damage due to poor drainage.”
Mr Chester said the new large indoor space was a valuable asset to the Yarram and district community.
“The new shed will make the job of volunteers a lot easier and will be used by many different community groups throughout the year including, community exhibitions, training, garden flower and poultry shows, and special events like dances.”
Yarram Agricultural Society treasurer Rebecca Morton said the new shed would be used by various organisations throughout the year.
“These groups will now have access to a safe and improved space,” Ms Morton said.
“The upgrade provides us with greater storage for exhibition items and a layout that provides flexibility when exhibits are set up allowing access for users of prams and wheelchairs.”
The Federal Government fully funded the $250,000 upgrade for the Yarram Agricultural Show committee.
The project was funded under the Community Development Grants Programme.
