Morwell Lions Club will be able to assist with the catering at more local events after receiving a grant from the Federal Government’s #lovegippsland Stronger Communities Program to purchase a new cool room trailer.
Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester said the Federal Government had provided $4000 to the Morwell Lions Club to buy the trailer which would provide significant benefit to the group, allowing it to run more community events.
“Morwell Lions Club runs a range of community events which normally requires the group to hire a cool room,” Mr Chester said.
“Having its own cool room trailer will cut down costs, allowing them to provide more donations to the local community.”
Mr Chester said the grants went a small way towards acknowledging the work and commitment of local volunteers.
“Morwell Lions Club members dedicate their time and energy to their community and this is one way that we can recognise their contribution,” Mr Chester said.
“Our Lions Clubs support the local community in many ways, from running markets to organising fundraisers and local projects.
“Their contribution and impact on our towns and individuals over many, many years is remarkable and I thank all our hardworking members for the ongoing efforts.”
