Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester met with rural doctors from Gippsland and across Australia at a breakfast forum in Canberra this week.

The key topic for discussion was recruiting more young doctors to regional areas and providing new doctors with the support and training they need.

Mr Chester was among 46 politicians and senior political advisers who attended the fifth annual national breakfast briefing for federal politicians at Parliament House on Tuesday morning.

Gippsland Primary Health Network Chair Nola Maxfield attended the breakfast to make sure key issues affecting Gippslanders were represented.

Guest speakers Dr Alexandra Smith and Professor Dennis Pashen discussed ways to improve education and training of doctors and difficulties with medical administration for country practices.
