The Mallacoota Golf Club is set to receive funding to rebuild and restructure the course after last summer’s bushfires.

Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester said this was a huge victory for the club who suffered significantly during the bushfires.

“The funding will be used to redesign the 18-hole public golf course, take advantage of its unique location and incorporate the courses stunning views and natural features,” Mr Chester said.

“The project will also include a public walking trail that will create a continuous circuit from Bastion Point Road to Davis Creek, Betka Beach and back.

“This will enable additional visitor opportunities as well as provide a genuine asset for the whole of the Mallacoota community to enjoy.

“Not only will the project take more advantage of the coastal views, it will be an environmental sanctuary and help local wildlife re-establish in the region.

“Well done to all the volunteers involved in getting this project off the ground and I can’t wait to see the final result.

“I’m determined to keep getting stuff done across East Gippsland and if more funding is required for projects that make our region a better place to live, work, visit and raise a family.”
