The multi-million dollar upgrade of the Esplanade in Lakes Entrance has taken another step forward with the completion of the latest stage of Princes Highway works.

Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester secured the mix of Federal and State funding for the works three years ago and is pleased the improvements are finally being completed.

“It’s taken longer than we would have liked but the highway is looking a lot better than it did at the start of the year,” Mr Chester said.

“Enhancing the Esplanade to make it more attractive for locals and visitors will encourage more people to get active and enjoy everything our region has to offer.

“Over the last three years, we’ve been able to make the highway through town safer for pedestrians and cyclists while improving the amenity of the foreshore itself.

“There’s a lot more work to be done next year around the Myer St intersection but I’m confident we are heading in the right direction with a more attractive and safer transport corridor.”
