Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester met with volunteers from the Friends of the Court House committee, who are working to restore the historic Traralgon courthouse building and reopen it for community use.

(From left) Libby Witchell, David Hackford, Sheridan Bond, Axella Johannesson and Suzanne Pinchen showed Mr Chester through the courthouse and shared with him their plans to create a community space with adjoining café.

Mr Chester said the courthouse and neighbouring post office were iconic buildings ingrained into the history of Traralgon.

The group is currently working through the list of building works which are required in the short and longer term to preserve the history of the building and to create a community asset for future generations to enjoy.
