The Nationals Member for Gippsland Darren Chester is assisting Gippsland Rotary Centenary House to identify funding opportunities for Stage Three to add an extra 13 family units to the site.

Mr Chester caught up with volunteers from the Committee of Management to view the final plans and offer his support.

Rotary Centenary House is seeking government funding of $900,000 toward the total $2.1 million cost of Stage Three to bring the total capacity to 30 rooms.

Mr Chester, a long-standing supporter of Rotary Centenary House, said there were a wide range of federal and state government funding opportunities available in Gippsland for community infrastructure and job creating projects.

The Stage Three expansion of Centenary House has secured funding support from Rotary, Latrobe Regional Hospital and the Blue Ribbon Foundation.

Mr Chester said Rotary Centenary House provided a vital accommodation service to patients and their families from across Gippsland when undergoing treatment at Latrobe Regional Hospital.

“Rotary Centenary House is an example of everything that is great about Rotary and our community,” Mr Chester said.

“Volunteers from the Latrobe Valley devote their time and expertise to care for families from outside their local region who need help and support during a difficult time.

“The house provides affordable accommodation for patients and their families; and importantly provides a way for residents to support each other and meet people facing similar challenges.”
