LOCH SPORT COMMUNITY LAUNCHES BOLLARDS PROJECT

October 18, 2011

The Nationals Member for Gippsland Darren Chester has commended the Loch Sport community for developing the Loch Sport Bollards Project.

Mr Chester said the project had been carried out by Loch Sport Primary School students, their families, local artists, the Loch Sport Community House, UnitingCare Gippsland and Wellington Shire Council.

In all 25 bollards have been erected at Lions Park in Loch Sport with students from the primary school designing and then painting a bollard with their family and other community members.

Mr Chester was on hand to help the students and community members to officially launch the project. He said the bollards were now a feature for Loch Sport residents and visitors to the community to enjoy.

“All the students, their families and other helpers from the Loch Sport community have done a terrific job of making the bollards a feature for the local community,” Mr Chester said.

“It was a positive project and the support that was present at the opening is a sign of the positive reception from the local community for the project.

“The students thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to create a new feature for the town and the Loch Sport Community House and UnitingCare Gippsland are to be commended for their support.”
