The Swifts Creek Bush Nursing Centre has undergone a major transformation with a refurbished facility already benefiting the local community.

Work was completed late last year on a $650,000 facelift supported by the State Government.

The Nationals Member for Gippsland Darren Chester recently visited the facility and was taken on a tour by Bush Nursing Manager Pauline Rose and Committee President Alison McRae.

The centre provides greater space for doctors and nurses to consult with patients as well as incorporating improved accident and emergency facilities, a community meeting room, extended storage space and living quarters for travelling health specialists.

Mr Chester commended the staff, committee and the local community for the time and effort that has been put in to improved facilities.

“This project wouldn’t have been completed without the commitment from the local community,” Mr Chester said.

“The staff and board recognised the need to upgrade the previously cramped facilities and the end result provides for improved patient privacy and better working conditions for staff.

“By using East Gippsland contractors, the bush nursing centre also achieved excellent value for money for the project.”
