Member for Gippsland Darren Chester is predicting a ‘huge crowd’ will attend the 2019 Morwell International Rose Garden festival.

The Local MP secured a $100,000 Federal Government grant to support the event on November 16-17 and says there will be activities and events for the whole family to enjoy.

“It is a world class rose garden maintained and improved each year by a small army of hard  working volunteers,” Mr Chester said.

“The rose gardens are a unique drawcard in the Latrobe Valley and the festival provides an opportunity to celebrate the gardens and the work of the Friends of the Morwell Centenary Rose Garden

“Maintaining the gardens is a year round job and these volunteers ensure that the blooms can be enjoyed every spring and summer.”

Mr Chester said the Federal Government funding had allowed the event to expand this year.

“The festival this year will run over two days and showcase local producers as well as a light show on the Saturday night,” Mr Chester said.

“It is a testament to the volunteers that the rose garden is continually featured in the media and receives attention both nationally and internationally.

“The garden provides an economic boost to our region and I look forward to celebrating the success of the festival this year and for many years to come.”
